physics tweaks

  • reduced how tire forces increases with normal force
    • tire forces will no longer grow linearly in relation to the normal force. this should reduce the oversteer caused by small amounts of breaking
  • lowered center of mass
    • this should also reduce the oversteering from small breaking and releasing the brakes
  • sway bar applies force at the correct position instead of just torque-rolling the entire vehicle

gameplay

  • stronger brakes
  • fixed a bug with the ABS system
  • changed center differential. its easier to slip the rear now when going over bumps
  • removed a hack that made going over bumps less punishing
  • steering wheel has a 12 to 1 steering ratio
  • camera 1 has 2 modes, press 1 to toggle
  • playground map, where you can
    •  switch drivetype modes
    • change tire sensitivity to normal load
    • get a feel for different surfaces
  • tweak ABS strength and brake rear ratio
  • clutch is now released slowly instead of instanteneously, to prevent unwanted slides when shifting gears
  • RPM bar changes color
    • green - can downshift
    • blue - fine
    • orange - should upshift
  • toggle for new experimental tier type that makes it easier to slide by flicking from side to side

input system

  • fixed deadzones - previously it was at 0.5, which is insanely high, sorry. now it defaults to a very low value and can be manually set
  • rebind actions to axis in detected input devices - hopefully this can detect wheel and pedal hardware
  • lists detected devices and shows their axis inputs
  • reworked keyboard assist. i thinks its actually worse now
  • tweakable input linearity for gpad and mouse
  • got completely demoralized learning that godot does not support force feedback

other

  • car is green now
  • fixed some pacenotes
